Everything started with a small shop over 150 years ago

The company Sigerist has been founded in 1867 by Carl Sigerist-Schelling. At that time the company sold leather products. During the time the product sortiment started to be more and more technical.

Today the company Sigerist GmbH develops, produces and sells technical components.

Our core competencies:

In the beautiful canton of Schaffhausen, the history of the Sigerist company began about 150 years ago and is still continuing today.

Development of new lifting system Easy-Synchro – a system for flexible furniture and equipment to meet today’s demands for more flexibility and mobility in offices and production halls.

Takeover of the trade and development of technical components by Sigerist GmbH in Schaffhausen, respectively by the next generation. Sabrina Beyerle, Stefan Sigerist’s niece, takes over the management of Sigerist GmbH. The location at Ebnatstrasse 162 in Schaffhausen is retained.

Sale of the door technology division and the occupational health and safety, compressed air, etc. division.

Construction of a workshop for machining with CNC controlled machines. Introduction of a fully integrated ERP system in IT.

Start of production of shaft couplings in Hungary and Switzerland.

Development of new machine feet and rollers.

Development of laterally and vertically opening transparent high-speed roller doors as a further development of industrial swing doors.

1977

The leather department is abandoned.

1976

Entry of Stefan Sigerist, 4th generation. Expansion of the range of technical components with hoses, machine bearings and other shaft couplings.

1972 / 1980

New building in 2 stages in the Herblingertal and excerpt from the old town.

1961

The sales of the self-developed industrial swing doors developed very well, the company gains significant market shares. Establishment of licensees in Europe and overseas.

1948

Entry of the two cousins Heiner and Bernhard, the 3rd generation. Conversion to articles for industrial use. First products were V-belts and flexible foams.

1907

The sons Heinrich and Bernhard join the company, concentrating on the leather trade. Start of drive belt production.

1894 / 1895

Opening of a people’s kitchen and a restaurant, which led to fragmentation.

1867

Master tanner Carl Sigerist-Schelling founded a leather shop in the suburbs 6 and 8 in Schaffhausen. The sales area developed into eastern Switzerland and southern Germany. Affiliation of a wine shop, since many land customers paid their bills with wine.
