Polyamid-Rollen ins richtige Licht gerückt

Making fast progress with polyamide

Where polyamide is used

Polyamide, better known as nylon, is used for many materials and in various forms. As a fiber in textiles, nylon is already an integral part of our society and is therefore well known. Nylon is specifically PA 6.6 (polyamide configuration and composition). However, polyamide has become an indispensable part of our lives and like many other plastics it can be found everywhere. In the automotive industry for the most diverse components, in optics for transparent and colored filters or in medical technology.

More details about polyamide can be found here.

However, this concerns a very specific form of polyamide (hereinafter referred to as PA), namely wheels or castors.

Polyamide wheels and castors

So we want to examine the properties of PA wheels right away.

Properties of polyamide wheels

  • PA-wheels have a very low rolling resistance, massively lower than e.g. polyurethane or solid rubber wheels.
  • Because the PA-wheels are so hard, they have less road grip
  • In return, they are highly resistant to a large number of chemical substances.
  • The PA-wheels are very low-wear.
  • They leave no marks on the floor.
  • A PA-wheel can be delivered on a plain bearing, roller bearing or also with ball bearing.
  • The PA-wheels are cheaper than wheels made of polyurethane or solid rubber, for example.

So the questions you should ask yourself will mainly be about price, noise level and rolling resistance.

How to choose the right material

  • If you want to make fast progress and the noise level is not important, PA- wheels are recommended.
  • If it is important to make little noise, you should choose polyurethane wheels, they also have a better grip on the ground.
  • When deciding on the carrying capacity, the composition of the polyamide wheels is important, this can vary. For heavy loads, look for heavy duty polyamide wheels or castors.
