Selecting a clamp collar – We show the differences between the various designs

The clamp collar is distributed by Sigerist in various designs. Clamp collars are available in different shapes and materials. In addition to one-piece clamp collars, two-piece clamp collars are also available, and these in turn are made of stainless steel or browned steel. The question now arises as to what advantages the different designs offer.

single split (one-piece) or double split clamp collars (two-piece)?

Single split clamping collars are slid onto the shaft for assembly and can then only be moved axially. Removal can be time-consuming under certain circumstances if the single-slit clamping collar is blocked by other components. This means that, depending on the design and the arrangement of other components, it can only be adjusted axially after installation, but not removed.
This is different with the two-piece clamp collars. Due to their half-shell shape, they can be disassembled into two halves and thus be mounted or dismounted at any time. This also simplifies the repair process.
In terms of price, it makes no difference whether one-piece or two-piece clamp collars are used.

Clamp collar in stainless steel or browned steel?

Clamp collars in stainless steel are protected against corrosion due to the properties of the material. This is also the case with the clamp collars in browned steel. However, the browning finish can wear off due to mechanical action, which means that the protection against corrosion no longer lasts. Clamp collars in stainless steel are particularly suitable if special conditions prevail at the place of use or if hygienic regulations make the use of stainless materials necessary.
Stainless steel is somewhat more expensive to purchase than steel. Accordingly, the purchase costs for clamp collars in burnished steel are somewhat lower than those in stainless steel.
