Polyurethane is one of the most versatile materials known and used today. This synthetic material is used in almost every area of our lives and finds its way into areas of which we are often unaware.

In principle, polyurethane is available as a hard material, as foam of variable density, but also as fiber, resin or adhesive, depending on its form. Its properties are impressive, in addition to its many uses, above all its resilience, temperature resistance and durability.

Fields of application of polyurethane

In order to shed some light on the dark, some of these areas of application are mentioned here and some mysteries may be revealed.

Polyurethane is used, for example, in the form of foam in mattresses, as thermal insulation or, with lower density, also as an acoustic insulation material. As a coating of textiles called PU leather, often also known as artificial leather, polyurethane, or abbreviated PU (the correct spelling would be [PUR]) is very often found in clothing and as a fibre in these clothing, polyurethane provides an elastic material, for example in stretch fabrics. Polyurethane is also used as a synthetic resin, as an adhesive or as a casting agent. As a crack-bridging sealant indoors and outdoors, for example for balcony floors and terrace sealing.

Now some may ask what this has to do with us.

As the picture above strongly suggests, polyurethane also has a field of application that has not yet been mentioned here. And thus we come to the actual topic.

Heavy duty rollers with polyurethane tires

In its solid form, polyurethane is often used as a covering or, as here, as tyres for rollers.

Here they are highly valued for the following properties, these would be:

PU rollers can withstand high loads, but above all dynamic loads. Depending on the wheel diameter, our rollers can withstand up to 600 kg per roller, which corresponds to a total weight of 2.4 tons with four rollers. Whereby the polyurethane pallet truck rollers even have a load capacity of up to 950 kg.
They have a good grip but have a low rolling resistance.
In addition, polyurethane rollers offer remarkable noise reduction.
Furthermore, the PU castors do not stain or leave marks, making them very suitable for clean environments and thus also protecting the floor.
As they can withstand temperatures between -20°C and +80°C, they can cope with almost all conditions and places of use, whether in a cooler or in an elevated ambient temperature, these castors can withstand it.
As they are also resistant to fats and oils and are resistant to many acids and bases, they are very versatile, for example in kitchens or laboratories.
Basically, these rollers are very low-wear and ensure that they have a very long service life and therefore require little maintenance, which in turn saves time and money.

As you can see, these heavy duty polyurethane castors are true all-rounders and can easily make your machines mobile in a wide range of applications. As the castors are available in the most common designs, they should also fit on most equipment and be easy to mount.
